Why it lives in membership

Day One is a solo app. This lock sits next to the family then stays shut.

Apple Journal and Day One are their own home. Kinnect Journal is the locked room inside the same membership as Storybooks, Tree, and Kin Groups.

Day One / Apple Journal

Solo diary. No family house around it.

Notes they might open

Unlocked. Shared iPad. Kids. Wrong door.

Kinnect Journal

Face ID first. Included with Family Membership. Not a seat. Not a group.

The problem

You need a page nobody else can open.

Someone else holds the phone

Kids, a partner, a parent borrowing it. Face ID is the door, not a courtesy toggle.

Dump the day first

Write about today before you talk to anyone. The group does not need that draft.

A blank page freezes you

Today’s reflection sits on the card. Use it, or ignore it.

You would rather speak

Talk instead. Voice lands in the same private journal. Not a family Echo.

Write or Talk

Type it. Or say it. Same lock.

Write

A page. Today’s reflection if you want it. Save. Still locked.

Talk

Voice lands in the same journal. Not a family Echo. Not a Storybook chapter.

In the app

The header says Private.

That word is in the product. Journal is marked Private. Sharing memories is a different surface.

Not Echo

Echo can be shared. This cannot.

Echo is a pop-up question. You can send that answer to a Kin group. Journal stays behind Face ID. Different door. Different page.

The door

Face ID first. PIN if you need it.

1. Open Journal

The gate is first. Nothing to read yet.

2. Face ID or PIN

The lock copy says enter your PIN or use Face ID.

3. Then write

The page is yours. Close the app. The lock is back.

Someone else holds the phone

Partner picks it up. The diary does not open.

That is the job. Not a courtesy toggle in Settings. The lock is the product.

People also ask

When they search private journal with Face ID.

Can my Kin group read my journal?

No. Journal is marked Private. Sharing memories is a different surface.

Is this Echo?

No. Echo is a pop-up question. Journal is yours. Unlock it first.

Face ID or PIN?

Either. The lock gate says enter your PIN or use Face ID.

Included?

Yes. Family Membership. Price and six paid seats live on the membership page.

Someone else holds the phone

The lock is for the night they pick it up.

A shared iPad. A kid. A partner looking for a photo. Journal stays shut until your face or PIN opens it. Day One does not sit next to the family tree.

A phone face-down on a nightstand

Family Membership

Keep one page that is only yours.

Unlock Journal with Face ID. Write, or Talk. The family home stays outside the lock.

Tell Nudge who you are thinking about.

You give Nudge context: who this person is, what is going on between you, and what you want. The more specific you are, the more useful the prompts will be.

Included with Family Membership · kin of six

Each prompt is tailored to the relationship and the intention you described. They arrive three times a week for 30 days. Some will make you want to reach out. Some will make you realize you need more space first.

Check in with yourself each week.

At the end of each week, Nudge asks you how you feel about where things are. Do you want to adjust your approach? Take a step back? Keep going? You stay in control of what happens next.

For all relationships

This works for every kind of relationship.
The ones that bring joy, the ones that feel distant, the ones you hope to rebuild.
